Iran: Enel Equipment for Geothermal Power Plant Will be Installed Soon

Italy to reopen LOC to Iran’s utility industries (Mehr News Agency)

Iran’s energy minister announced that Italy has opened a Line of Credit (LOC) for its firms to make investment in Iran’s water and electricity industries.

Speaking at a joint session with the Italian Minister of the Environment Gian Luca Galletti, Iran’s Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian said that Enel has built the equipment for Iran’s first geothermal power house which will be installed soon.

The visiting official went on to maintain that “presently, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and Iran’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance are working on a legal document on how to remove the obstacles ahead of reopening credit lines between the two countries which will hopefully yield results in coming days.”

At the end of the session, the two sides agreed on preparing a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on venues of cooperation between Iran and Italy in the utility sector.

Hossein Najm, an Energy Market Independent Advisor in Iran, reported on Twitter that ‏ Enel has supplied the 1st geothermal powerplant in the middle-east
in the northwest of the country at a height of 3,000 meters on Mount Sabalan. 11 wells have been drilled with a capacity of 55 MW.
