India: Plans for 5 MW Geothermal Power Plant in Balrampur District

Tatapani has great potential for Geothermal power generation: CREDA (The Hitavada)

Tatapani Geothermal field in Balrampur District has the potential to produce 17 Megawatts electricity in the State. In a series of surveys conducted by Geological Survey of India across the potential Geothermal power generation locations,

Tatapani has been termed as logistically best location among other identified areas in the country, informed Purandar Mishra, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Authority (CREDA) here on Thursday. He was interacting with the media persons on huge potential, approval and financial support from the Central Government.

Talking to the media persons, CREDA Chairman informed that Tatapani has been identified for Geothermal power generation and a letter has been sent to the Union Minister of State (IC) for Power, New and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal to approve and sanction funds for initial 5 Megawatt pilot project which will cost Rs 175 crore. Necessary presentation is being made to the minister and the project is waiting approval from the concerned ministry.
