Geothermal Options Eyed in American Samoa (Radio New Zealand)

Scientists are in American Samoa this week to conduct studies on the geothermal potential of the territory.

American Samoa's Renewable Energy Committee chairman, Tim Jones, says when the committee decided to pursue geothermal, it got in touch with top geological scientists in the world to see if they can do a preliminary survey
The project is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Interior which included paying for the scientists to visit.

Mr Jones says the scientists are at the final stages of their testing, and the committee is just waiting on final reports.
