Biliran Geothermal Starts Drilling (Manila Standard Today)

Biliran Geothermal Inc. has tapped Icelandic Drilling Co. to conduct exploratory drilling at the site of its planned 50 MWe geothermal project in Biliran province on Leyte island.

Renewable Energy Management Bureau director Mario Marasigan said a recent visit to the site showed Biliran Geothermal started preparatory works for the drilling.

“We inspected ongoing preparation for drilling. So far everything is okay, unless they were affected by Habagat,” Marasigan said.

Biliran Geothermal is supposed to drill first geothermal exploratory well in the third quarter.

“The drilling will confirm the capacity and later they will build the power plant,” Marasigan said earlier.
