USA, Nevada:

Gold Mine Commissions ElectraTherm Green Machine (Reno Gazette)

ElectraTherm of Reno, Nevada, has announced that the Florida Canyon Mine has commissioned one of its Green Machines to provide electricity for the gold mine in Imlay just two hours northeast of Reno.

The Green Machine uses sources such as geothermal and co-produced fluids to generate electricity from waste heat. In addition to generating electricity at the gold mine, the Green Machine also will expedite the cooling process for the facility’s geothermal brine. The Department of Energy awarded Phases II and III (PDF) of a $1 million grant in the Fall of 2012 to manufacture and commission a Green Machine optimized for geothermal resources.
